A male very heavy accent said he was calling from Microsoft Windows and they were getting arrows indicating someone was trying to take over my computer. He wanted me to get on my computer so he could go through the instructions to stop the attack. I did not do it. Sounds fishy to me. The there was a great deal of noise in the back ground.

SCAM ALERT! I just received a phone call from this "officer" from the non-existant "Orange County Warrants Division." He has a deep voice, and is probably African American. Unfortunately I didn't remember the name he used. He told me that I had missed a court date for jury duty. He said that a warrant would be issued for my arrest if I didn't call him back in an hour with the reference number of a $500 Green Dot card. Obviously that's a huge red flaf. He sounds very official, but here are the other red flags I "saw:" 1) He called on a Saturday after 5pm, when government offices are closed. 2) He gave me a citation number that had too few digits. 3) He said that my offense was a "Class C" misdemeanor. California doesn't assign classes to misdemeanors. 4) No court demands near immediate payment of a fine. 5) No officer knows for certain the name of the judge you'll go before, until your day in court. 6) That said, he gave me the name of a judge that doesn't exist. 7) According to the Fullerton Police Dept., no Orange County courthouse issues a fine for missing court. Yeah, I know I should have hung up the minute I was asked to purchase a Green Dot card. But, I recently had an unpleasant experience with the court system (a traffic citation which turned into an ordeal), and went into panic mode.
