Just received a call. It was a recorded message asking me to press 1 to speak with a rep. When I did, it said that all of the reps were busy and asked me to leave a message. I left a message letting them know I was going to report them to the FTC, which I did.

These guys are scam artists. This is a popular ploy... They will call and try to alarm you so that you are not thinking things through like you normally would. They want you to be scared that you will be taken to court or arrested. Ultimately, what they want is to get you to agree to pay the (bogus) debt with one of your credit or debit cards to avoid catastrophe. To be clear, these are scam artists and do NOT represent one of your creditors. The information they provide is completely false. You will not be served papers. You do not owe the debt they made up. It is 100% false… a trick… a hoax of the worse kind. Don’t give them any personal information. They will drain your accounts and by the time most people realize they have been a victim, the scam artists have set up shop in a new location with new phone number so the authorities cannot track them down. Be smart! Don’t talk to them. Hang up on them if you answer their call. Do not call them back if they leave a message.
