It seemed to be a recorded call for me to call this number. They did not address me or anyone in my family by name and the message was hard to understand. It showed up on my caller id as a private call

I to got the same call. I knew the gov. would not do things that way. If they were giving you money they would send you a check with a letter explaining it. Good scam though

Impostors who claim to be from Google (they are not) and claim your business Google+ profile is not complete, verified, or optimized. They spoof numbers from all across the USA in an attempt to get you to answer the phone, look like a legitimate business, sell you bogus services, and avoid being tracked. They call all numbers (including cell and Do Not Call list numbers), and they hang up if you ask them to verify their identity (as a Google employee/representative), verify the company they are calling from, or ask too many probing questions. They are looking for an easy mark who will fall for their fraudulent pitch. They spoof numbers across the US (I've received calls from them from numbers in CA, OH, NY, MI, etc -- including from 3 different number today alone). Their goal is to persuade you to sign up for their bogus service so they can get your financial info and bill your credit card. When they call you and ask to speak to the business owner, ask them what business they are trying to reach. They can't answer your question because your number was robo dialed and they don't know who or what business they called. They panic and hang up if you probe them for verification or show any type of resistance that takes them too far off their call script or indicates that you're not going to be an easy mark.
