I've received the same call a couple of times now. This is what the IRS website says to do (link below): If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484. www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Releases-the-%E2%80%9CDirty-Dozen%E2%80%9D-Tax-Scams-for-2014;-Identity-Theft,-Phone-Scams-Lead-List
Funny thing is can't be for a student loan, mine has been paid off for 15 years.
Credit card scam. The hook is that they can lower your interest rate. Then they try to get your credit card number from you.
