I work for a sheriffs office and one of our deputies received a call on his county cell phone from this number, weird, he said his family doesn't have his work number, most likely a scam, but who knows

this call is from some inmate trying to get you to add money to some calling card
Collect call from correctional facility
Scam called at 4am
I receive calls about every 5 minutes for about an hour then they stop for awhile and start up again. I was told my son was in jail in Georgia. I ran a background check on him and no criminal activity showed up. We tried to locate him in Walker County jail in Al and Ga. The calls are recordings so you can't talk to anyone. It is wanting you to put money in an account for him.
866-847-1251 calls my mother's house every day, eight times per day. My sister in-law is in a Florida prison and she keeps harassing my mother by calling every day, eight times per day because she wants my brother to set up a pre-paid phone calling account while she's in prison so she can make phone calls. My brother hasn't been over my Mom's house in several days, BUT the jail bird continues to call EIGHT times a day HOPING that someone will feel bad for her and set up an account. We don't know how to get her stop calling. SHE'S IN A FLORIDA PRISON. One would think they could control their inmates since she's doing time for a very serious offense, BUT NO, a Florida inmate, apparently, is permitted to harass whoever they wish to. I have called several numbers listed with the Florida Department of Corrections. Every person I get is either clueless or has no idea where the NPC Destin Correctional Institute in Florida is. The company that sets up the phone system for the inmates is called SECURUS, and I was given their phone number, and, of course, I can not get through because I live in an area of Florida that does not have access to that phone number. Does everyone feel more secure and safe knowing that the State of Florida has NO CONTROL of their prisoners, NOR, do they know which prison my sister in-law is....when the call comes in they say it's from the NPC Destin Correctional Facility...nobody knows where this prison is....not even the Florida Department of Corrections. Isn't that just great? Caller: Securus

this is a call from a county jail it states it's a collect call....it say please hit 1 then enter credit card num ber to create an account
Says its a women's correctional facility and inmate is trying to reach me but I can't understand what prison is named. Says first time answering would be free but I missed both calls only left a message on the second call.
asking for help and entering a credit card number
SCAM!!! Don't care what those other "users" are saying. There's nobody in jail that would call my 10 year old's UNKNOWN cell #. NEVER answer these calls and for crying out loud, NEVER accept a collect call without CLEAR NAME of who is calling.
I received 2 calls late eve around 1140pm from this number. I missed both calls because I didn't have my cell phone with me. After doing google search, found possibility of call from jail. Did google+ location search of my partner who was visiting Tacoma, we live in CA... and sure enough it placed him in a police building. I had my niece in Kent call the jail then post bail for my partner. This seems to be a universal number from jail facilities according to other comments on this site.
This is NOT a scam. Someone is trying to call you from jail. If you have friends and relatives traveling or can't locate a loved one - answer the call. It might be them. I know someone who sat in jail for weeks because his family would not answer the call. This is a universal number used by Jails across the country. Unfortunately, my son has called me from this number and we're in Georgia. He was locked up for something petty after following a guy I told him not to hang around with,.
Prisoners don't have rights! The lost those when they committed their crime. They are harassing us! Their phone calls should be watched so that they don't get away with this! What creeps!!!
Give em a break. Whoever wrote the above is obviously brainwashed and should look into private prisons and why they exist!
no calls Zachary vasa
To set up an account or add money funds to my present account to enable me to receive calls from someone I know in a correctional facility, who is trying to reach my number and they wanted me to give capability of more funds through credit card or debit card info that I would provide to them, by pressing a certain number to enable the transfer of my information to them.
jail call scam
It's no scam. Friends called to let me know they had been arrested while out of state... If someone you know is traveling, answer the call.
Just about done! You can optionally provide additional information to help us identify who called you.
