304 Area Code

After paying a doctor bill over the phone with a credit card, I got an anonymous text from this number stating that a payment about three dollars more than my bill had been processed and directing me to click a link for an e-receipt.
Of course I did not and called the doctor office instead. They said they started using a new CC processor that day and were forced to put my phone number into the screen to complete the payment. The extra charge on my CC account was the processing fee.
None of this was known or authorized by me. I would have mailed a check if I knew about the fee and disclosure of my phone number to a third party.
I was told that my phone number and personal information was not saved in a 3rd party data base, but I don't feel safe about that now.

INSURE A LIFE was on the caller ID from my cellphone service provider. Appears to be a SCAM for LIFE Insurance according to Google.

I do not accept private calls.
