Had an indian sounding man call me. From quick loan. said I was approved for 1500 dollar cash advance. I said No I didn't approve anything. He said "OMG" and hung up. Couldn't call him back. I was thinking prank call or my identity was stolen. Turns out he's just a scammer, looking for ppl who are trying to get approved for a cash advance. I'm sure If I said yes, he would ask for my personal information.
My husband and I have have received about fifteen phone calls from this and other numbesr. We have told them emphatically not to call again. I told them that I don't trust them, not to call me, and that I will call the Attorney General if the calls continue. My calls seem to have subsided but my husband continues to receive them although the callers are asking for me.
This began about December 23 or 24, 2010. I was responding to Publishers' Clearing House about a legitimate contest. Apparently the company in question attached itself to PCH. I came upon something from PCH announcing that I might/could have won a $1000.00 gift certificate from Wal-Mart. I pressed on the link which took me to another one that said that I might/could have won a $100.00 gift certificate from Wal-Mart and to give my phone numbers. Knowing that PCH is legitimate, I put in both my phone number and that of my husband. Then it dawned on me that the gift certificates from Wal-mart were for different denominations, that I shouldn't press continue, and that this sounded questionable. I did not press the continue button and did take our phone numbers off the site; however, it was too late. Within a minute, my husband and I began getting phone calls.
I received one of the calls Christmas Eve. It was for a student loan. I told the woman that I wasn't interested, that it was Christmas Eve, that I did not trust her, and for her not to call me back. Then she said seriously, "So, you aren't interested in going back to college?" (I am a retired teacher with my Master's degree. Obviously I don't want to take out a loan to go back to school.)
My husband has received calls from several numbers but this one primarily. The calls are from a company with a name such as Pay Loans.
