Received duplicate letters – except for the name. I found out that 844-624-5583 apparently is CALL CENTER ONLY for “Retrieval-Masters Creditors Bureau Inc” AND RMCB’s subsidiary “American Medical Collection Agency” --- and goes to an outsourced, Inida-based call center. 844-505-3328 then given to me for calling to Retrieval-Masters. That is where I was told that the information on file for ALL persons in their system with our information was for CLOSED CASES!!! – They were simply sending out letters as required to ALL people listed in their system, due to the data breach that had recently occurred. And from other information found on the Internet, RMCB/AMCA handle a VERY large number of billing accounts world-wide. So ---- if you have been anywhere near a hospital, doctor, or lab in the past few years ------ you are probably in their computer systems ---- and may now also be on the Dark Web!!

When I answer I get automated voice the voice asked me to hold on while the representative is connected once the representative is connected the line disconnects

Caller: American Medical

Don't know who it is, wont leave message.

called a few times claiming its a debt collector. they had the drs. name right but they asked for my son and he is a very young minor. I told them I would handle with the clinic directly and they said that's too late you cant do that... clinic verified no debt is owed. they are a scam.

I received a call from this number on my cell phone. They said they where American Medical Collection. This is where it gets really funny!! They said they were looking for my parents, (I am a 48 year old man) they said they can only speak to my legal guardians. They told me that I have a bill from Quest Diagnostics. I told them to only correspond by US Mail and not to call me again. I also told them they have wrong information. They wanted to know what the wrong info was. I told them I would not help them, so they hung up on me. We will see what happens. Because I have no idea who they are or Quest. I am also sure its a scam

Calls several times a day but never leaves a message

It's all automated hangs up and doesn't say who they're looking for

Caller: American Medica

They called and wanted to discuss a "matter. " I Asked for clarification and was Demied an answer until I agreed to have the call " recorded". Total BS.

Caller: ???

If they call back, blow a whistle in their ear. Whether they come in through your front door or your telephone line, they are invading your privacy.

i got called today regarding a medical bill I have paid long time ago, I request the letter main and provided my mailing address. Then i realize they are fraud because I recently happened to move to Seattle, then when I said Seattle, they didn't know how to spell it!! How comes an American company doesn't know a city as Seattle! It is not a big city as New York but is not as small as to an American doesn't know how to spell it. I am curious how did they get my medical information? They basically have my birthday, my name and my address and the amount of the bill. How did they get this?

Spam

THIS PHONE NUMBER KEEPS CALLING BUT DOSN'T LEAVE A MESSAGE WHY THEY CALLER OR WHO THEY WANT JUST GOT THIS NUMBER.

Caller: DON'T KNOW

Must be spam; any legitimate company would leave a real message or send mail. They call often and I never answer due to limited phone minutes on cell. They leave a message, not really, but they stay on the line long enough for it to go to VM, then, hang up. With my plan, I must attempt to retrieve the call but no one leaves a real message. For some reason my plan won't allow true blocking but I put them in as Fraud Contact so I know not to answer, plus, gave them a disturbing ring tone. Works for me.

indian guy called me asking my name. When i stared doing questions back who he was and from where he was calling...he stared jerking off the words and hung up. I called back and an american girl answered with out giving any info from me she already knew who was calling . Obviously i dint agreed with the info. But she stated she was calling for a debt with a doctor...the name of the doctor was unknown for me. never heard of it. I only have a doctor and is a woman. Then she stated she can't give me any information , i said; how comes you guys called me to get my info but i can't have non of yours? and of course she stayed quiet. SCAM!

Know your rights. Do not Answer this company. Any legitimate collection agency would send a bill first and give you an opportunity to pay or dispute.
1. Don’t Pay or Acknowledge the Debt

Each state has a statute of limitations that dictates the amount of time you’re legally responsible for a debt. This time frame varies from state to state, but averages between 3 and 15 years. The statute of limitations applies to unsecured debts, such as credit cards, medical bills, utility bills, and private student loans, but not federal student loans.

If a debt collector calls out of the blue, don’t hastily acknowledge that a debt is yours. If the debt is valid, in all likelihood, the statue of limitations has passed and you no longer owe the money. Some collectors call after the statue of limitations has passed in a last-ditch effort to collect on an old balance. If you acknowledge the debt, this restarts the statue of limitations, which gives collectors the green light to pursue collection attempts.

2. Request Proof of the Debt

Within 30 days of being contacted about a debt, write the collection agency and ask the company to verify the debt. By law, debt collectors must provide written verification of this information or cease collection attempts. Keep a copy of the letter for your records. To ensure that your letter reaches the collector, mail your request via certified mail. In return, you receive a receipt when the postal service delivers the letter.

You can challenge or dispute a balance after the debt collector verifies the debt, but you must contact the original creditor to clear the mistake. Call the original creditor, or write a dispute letter. Likewise, the creditor must investigate and respond to your inquiry.

To improve the outcome of your claim, gather proof to support your argument, such as canceled checks or old account statements. If the original creditor verifies the debt and you cannot provide evidence to support your claim, seek help from a debt dispute lawyer.

As I was just posting this I got another call from an unknown caller!! Gut instincts are still brewing! Lol!

Caller: Unknown caller

Called tody asked for me. I didnt know the number so I told them they had the wrong number. She kept talking ( I couldn't understand her English well). So I just hung up on her and came on here! Now I'm glad I did! Reading these remarks tells me my gut instinct was right on!

Medical collectors - I owe a small hospital bill and these people call me 3-5
Times per day

Caller: Collector

my husband got this call and they were "looking for me" . I called them and gave them only my name - they asked to verify an address as they had a couple with the same name. I said you give me the address and I'll tell you if it is correct. Then it was they have 13 with the same name. I said unless you can give me information, I'm not giving you zilch. I am METICULOUS when it comes to my bills, medical and otherwise. I've actually called places and asked if they were going to send me a statement so I can pay the bill. I know I don't owe anything to these people. If they call me directly, I will block their number. That being said -- there is another couple in this area with the same names and my husband, myself and our oldest daughter. They have HORRIBLE credit and there are so many times we have had to jump thru hoops to prove it wasn't us. In fact as a young man, there was a warrant out for the other guy and they went to my husband's house. He was a teenager at the time. The daughter "kept" a car she was test driving and they came after my daughter. This family is a bunch of crooks.

STOP CALLING THIS DARN NUMBER, YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME CALLING, DON'T ANSWER NUMBERS OF CALLER THAT I DON'T KNOW ANYHOW.HAVE A NICE DAY, AND GET A LIFE.

Caller: DON'T KNOW

Repeatedly has called over the last several days, during the work day when I cannot answer phone. No voice mails. You'd think if it was important enough to call every day, they'd leave a message. After viewing all the other complaints, I'm going to assume it's spam, too.
