Man with heavy middle eastern accent left a message; Second attempt to contact you... Risk prosecution for failing to appear in front of the US magistrate... You owe the US Treasury... We urge you to contact us immediately!""
July 14, 2015 Steve Morin or Marin called with same message as above left on our voice mail. Next voice mail with same message was from Dennis Gray with phone number to call back 844 548-0110.
The call is from a Steve or a Dave Martin. He claims to be calling on behalf of the US Treasury which would have no business calling normal civilians even if it WERE real. He says this is the (first second or third...etc) attempt to avoid a hearing in front of a magistrate or grand jury and if you ignore the call you will be indicted or something along those lines. They speak terrible English and their sentence structure is very foreign and incorrect.
Yes confirmed scam. I have an abnormal sleep schedule so I always miss their calls late afternoon but they've called 5 times this week in as many days and left voice messages in terrible English with unusual and incorrect sentence structure as someone posted above. Each message they would say "this will be a: second, third, fourth attempt to avoid a hearing in front of a grand jury or magistrate...." so on. I never did get the opportunity to answer and mess with them though :( How could these people possibly be morally ok with knowingly tricking people like that? Such a sick world.
I actually answered because thought it was a call from family and they told me I'm being sued for tax evasion for $5200. I decided to play along and said ok how do I pay you. They said you can't pay me I'm just calling to tell you that you are about to be arrested within next 30 min to my home address. I said what is my home address...she said you know your address.. I asked her if I had time to shower and call a babysitter before going to prison and she hung up on me. It looks like they are trying to scare you to point you send in visa giftcards to clear the balance. They say you can't pay by credit card because that isn't safe to give out personal information. Like they are protecting you. Makes me mad because I know some sweet old lady will fall for it.
