they are still up to their tricks....it is interesting to note that this is listed as one of the top ten scams perpetrated on the public, right along with sending money to collect a winning lottery prize, the nigerian money scam.....it's extortion.....one woman in texas has committed suicide because she was so frightened by these criminals. Do not let them scare you and do not send them money.

My brother received a phone call early this morning from William Rice, saying he was a DEA agent in Washington, 202-241-8927 x.118, where they had ordered some diet pills illegally from another country and if he did not pay the fines he could spend time in Federal Prison, he said he thought it sound fishy and said he would contact his attorney before he paid any fines.. Thanks to everyone for posting this we all no it is a scam...

Same as other scams, about RX ordered from Dominican Republic. Said he name was DEA Agent Anthony Calderoni. I am a cop. I played along with him, hoping to obtain some additional info. In between his "let me see what I can do to help you calls," I called the actual DEA in Miami. They informed me that they had just recieved a complaint on the same subject, who called someone in Virginia, (I live in Florida,) with the same story. In the end, he told me he was able to get the charges changed to a fine of $850.00. I finally couldn't take it any more and told him he should really check out the background on the person he was trying to scam, and that I was a cop. After going off him him for a bit, he told me he would have his supervisor contact me. Funny thing is, his supervisor never did. I have been calling the number back all day, but he wont answer. Imagine that. Also, the number is a land line out of Buffalo, New York.

i received a call from a man claiming to be William Rice, a DEA special agent. He said I owe a $950 fine for illegal activity. I knew it was a scam. I called this number back to see what it connected to. He answered, "William Rice, DEA administration". Still convinced it was a scam i contacted the DEA and found that there is a Special Agent William Rice but he is a polygraph examiner. I called that number and a very different voice answered by machine. Now I know for sure it was a scam. I am reporting him to the Federal Trade Commission.

I just received the same phone call from the same man using the same number. What I do not understand is how he can continue to operate if this is reported. i will report this through the proper authorities. Since the phone number is a Washington DC number I would thinnk they could walk to the office and shut them down.

I received a call from a William Rice identifying himself as a DEA Agent located in Washington DC. He informed me I had paperwork in the mail to be prosecuted regarding an illegal diet pill I purchased online in 2007 from the Dominican Republic. I advised him I was not aware of purchasing any illegal drugs and had never received anything from the Dominican. He said I could face up to 12 months in jail unless I was willing to please to a lesser charge. He advised he would have to call me back. We hung up and about 10 minutes later I saw him on the phone display calling back and I did not pick up the call. He left a message advising I needed to contact him immediately. I am not returning the call.

A man representing himself as "Special Agent William Rice of the DEA" called my home tsaid I was to appear in federal court on January 28 for a hearing because I purchased a prescription medication online. He said that my prescription was not valid and that the provider was actually located in the Dominican Republic, which was a felony. He said that I could avoid prosecution by paying a $3000 fine to the Dominican Republic or I would serve 3 months to three years in federal prison. I asked for his phone number and badge number and said I would call him back. I then called the DEA in Washington, DC who said they had been getting a lot of calls about William Rice and that he is a scam artist. I was advised "not to answer the phone if he calls back." I was concerned enough about the call to check it out. I only wish the DEA will find him and prosecute him for impersonating a federal agent, which I believe really IS a felony! William Rice used a cell phone with the number 202-249-0426. I called the number and he has a very official sounding message recorded on the answering system.

I just got a call from this person on 1/13/11. This "Special Agent William Rice" demanded I pay fines for purchasing illegal medication overseas. I told him he was "out of his tree" and not to contact me ever again. Thank you to all who took the time to post this scam.

Agent "William Rice" called us Sunday 12/26, identifying himself as DEA from Washington DC. Claimed we had purchased items illegally and had upcoming court date 1/10. Started off somewhat smooth & professional but got tripped up when I pressed for specifics. Claimed we could retain an attorney or "pursue other routes to remedy". He assured us we'd be getting information for the "court date probably sometime soon"- seemed very fishy. I googled the number this morning and thanks to all who posted their experiences with this scam artist. What a moron. I expect he will call us back but now I am ready to deal with him.

Same guy saying he was Special Agent William Rice of the DEA called me at 5:45 pm at night saying that they had confiscated drugs that I had bought in 2007. He said that my federal court date was set for Jan. 10th and I could face up to 12 months in prison. He put his supervisor on the phone and he gave me the option of paying a fine of $950.00 this evening through Western Union to a Julio Joseph in the Dominican Republic. My husband called back and was challenging sending money overseas and he got very angry and hung up! That's when we decided to try to look up this number and found this website. He scared me to death! Shame on them.

I received a phone call today from someone claiming to be Special Agent William Rice from the DEA office in Washington DC. He said in 2007 I had ordered medication from Florida that actually came from the Domincan Republic. The Federal DEA was filing federal charges against me today. I could face a judge and get a mandatory 90 day federal prison term or I could Western Union $3000.00 today to Julio Joseph in Santa Domingo to cover the fine and have the charges dropped.
I got online to get the DEA Headquarters number and not the number "Agent" Rice was telling me to call and was told that this is a scam!!!! Do not send this guy money!!!!!

They are using MagicJack to extort People. I called the President of MagicJack and told him what their customer was doing and got a call back from one of their customer reps who was very concerned about being dragged into a Federal investigation. I also called the DEA and gave them Magic Jack's number so they could issue a subpoena as Magic Jack knows who opened the account. I suggest everyone who has gotten calls contact MagicJack's CEO at
MagicJack LP/Ymax Corp, 5700 Georgia Ave., Palm Beach, FL 33405
Telephone: 561-586-3380
Fax: 561-586-2328
and bitch and complain until they finally cut off their phone service or turn in the douchebags!

The man was William Rice impersonating a DEA special agent. He's an extortionist. Don't give him any money. Call the real DEA and file a complaint against him. You will be transferred to their extortion hotline & will be asked for your name and email address and what happened. This asshole needs to be stopped. He's hurt a lot of people who did nothing wrong and he's taking advantage. Wish I could get him myself.

A man claiming to be a special agent contacted me and threatened me with "federal crime", mentioned some "confiscated drugs" so that I should transfer 1,000 to some offshore bank and will not be charged that way. What a fraud!
