What are "Government Scams"?

Robocalls that pose to be calls from a legitimate government agency are referred to as "government scams". There are many different forms of these government scams, but the most common is an IRS scam call. This is where a scammer calls you and tells you that you haven’t paid your taxes and there is a warrant out for your arrest. During this call, they will ask you for your social security number, bank account information, home address, and much more. These calls can be very convincing, as they already know your name and possibly know where you work, but they should not be trusted. There are other government scams such as Social Security Administration calls, medicare calls, and police department calls. All of these scam calls will consist of the caller asking for your information and threaten that you will face consequences if you do not give them what they want. These types of calls are illegal, and they should be reported to the police immediately. The best way to avoid becoming a victim to these callers is by hanging up and calling the agency the caller claimed to be apart of. Simply end the call, and call the number of the real agency to see if they truly are needing your information.

This is NOT A SCAM CALL, Google uses this number to verify your Google Voice forwarding phone number.

This number is a verification call from GOOGLE VOICE. When a person adds a forwarding number to their Google Voice account, (a number which will also ring when anybody calls their GV number), Google makes sure the person requesting the addition actually owns the forwarding number by showing a 2 digit validation code on the GV page and dialing the number asking whomever answers to enter the code shown.

Sometimes people enter the wrong forwarding number by mistake and Google will call the wrongly entered number anyway, seeking the validation code.

If you get an unsolicited call from this number, just hang up and you will probably never get another.

I am trying to add a new number through Google voice, but your site keeps blocking the process.

This is not spam and should not be blocked. It's Google 2 step authentication for YOUR protection.

This is a legitimate call site for 2 step call authentication. Google uses this to phone you a verification code. If you get unwanted calls from this number it's because someone mistyped your number.

It's legitimate if you go to YouTube and try to verify your YouTube account by phone so you can upload videos longer than 15 minutes. This is the number it calls you from.

No legitimate caller would have called us at 12:34AM (yes, after midnight when Saturday night turns into Sunday). Awakened from a sound sleep, we didn't answer, as our telephone told us it was[another unknown caller. Within the next 10-minutes we heard single rings 2 or 3 times -- enough to re-awaken us from having fallen back to sleep. I checked the phone for a message. The robo message talked over our voice message. I heard a recorded young female adult voice saying, "Please enter the 2-digit validation code you were given on-line." I haven't the faintest idea what this refers to, and know that it's nothing important to me.
