When I answer the phone, it is always a pre-recorded message with a stern, almost forceful, message saying they have been trying to reach me and I need to handle the matter of my credit card balance promptly. I have spoken to the representative 5 times and as soon as I say that I don't want to be called anymore, they hang up on me. Today I asked what credit card they were referencing, and they listed Card Member Services for Chase, Capital One, Bank of America, Wellsfargo, and Discover. As soon as I said that I don't have any credit cards at all and I want them to stop calling, they hung up again.

They said they were my "existing credit card company" and that they wanted to update my "existing credit card" to a lower interest rate
