It's a scam that says you were selected by the federal government to win 5000

I got the call too, but from a man with strong Chinese accent. Since I couldn't understand what he was saying, he got frustrated and hung up on me.

5pm March 25, 2015. Lady with East African Accent told me I won a grant of $1,400. I said don't call this number again, she said will call again and again. Has called 5 times in 5 minutes.

Sounds criminal after reading below posts.

A man with heavy accent and high background noise said he was from the U.S. Department of treasury and I had been randomly selected to receive $8,900, they just needed my account info to deposit the money. I replied asking him to identify himself and he refused. I hang up on anybody who won't identify themselves. He calls back a few hours later, but hangs up when I ask who is calling.

Got the same call. Let it go to voicemail. Read reports here. They called back 5 minutes later. Hit reject button. THEY SPEED DIALED ME 3 MORE TIMES. I rejected their call each time. Idiots. I am from DC. That's not how the Feds do business. Doh.

I received the same call, but she told me I had been selected for a government grant and they would transfer the number to my bank account or cc. All I needed to do was give her that info. Ummm no thank you.

Got an unsolicited call. A woman with a heavy accent introduced herself as "from the U.S. government in Washington DC". There was noticeable background noise. When asked about which branch of the government she represented, the reply was very unclear but it was something to do with "jury". She hung up after about 30 seconds.
