Just got the same call. I figured the IRS was a little more professional than an automated message on my phone.

The IRS will never call to inform you of a lawsuit. They can only correspond by mail.

My neighbor here in north idah just got a call from 202-738-1854 stating it was the third notice that he owed 4000 bucks and they were filing suit if he didn't make payment. Sounds like they're hitiing coast to coast with this one. Problem is they must be having some success or it wouldn't be continuing. Until the phone company stops allowing overseas callers to disguise their numbers as coming within the U.S. this is going to continue to get worse. It's bad enough telemarketers and creditors within the U.S. do this but there's absolutely no excuse any overseas caller should be able to relay their number thru channels disguised as a U.S. number.

just received a called from supposedly IRS that they had a file suit against me and to call immediately 2027 738 1554 Scam. I called back, and even though I do taxes, I knew it was a scan because the IRS does not call you. Ever. When I called back they said I owed ten of thousand of dollars, and I said quietly for what. And I said I would like to know what for. And they disconnected me. But they did have my name and my address, and my phone number.

Received call on voice mail. Message was left saying: "Hello this call is officially a final notice from IRS. Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing law suit against you. To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number." They then left and repeated this number: 202 738-1854

The dummies also called me here in Prince George's County Maryland, claiming to be from the IRS on 06/11/2015. The male on the line had broken English and when I told him I was with the local police dept, he just kept talking as if he was reading from a script. I advised him that he was a fake and after hearing him tell me to have an wonderful life, I let him know how I felt in the good old USA, if you know what I mean. L.O.L !!

They've reached us here in Maryland as well. but the IRS will NEVER call and do that. From what I have seen on the news about scams, it says the IRS will always notify you in writing. I just ignored the call.

I am also from Miami County, received a threatening phone call that the IRS is pressing charges against me and knew too much information on certain tax years and amounts that it made me sick to my stomach. Nothing is done about this which is infuriating! The fact they say they are from the IRS isn't misrepresenting enough for charges to be filed is ridiculous!

I received the same recorded message as stated above, and from the same number. I went onto the IRS site and placed all info re the call within an email to an attorney's office that popped up when I clicked onto the nearest, whistleblower site (Miami for me),

I received a similar voice mail message from a woman impersonating a representative from the IRS. I called the number provided and it sounded like a busy business. The woman had my name, address and of course phone number and she was somewhat aggressive. I realized that the call did not make sense. When I started firing questions back and asked her if she was a fraud, she hung up on me. If you receive such a call, it is a SCAM! Please DO NOT give the caller any personal information, especially your Social Security Number, Banking, Credit or Debit card information! These folks want to steal your identification (Identity Theft) and your money. They've stolen millions already this year.

If this happens to you, get the person's name and phone number (if you can), go to www.IRS.gov website and report the incident to the Treasurer Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).

Checked voicemail and foiund that I'd received the same call regarding lawsuit. I called back 202 738 1854 and voicemail with Brittish accent stated "number not in service at this time". I've had a lot of experience with the IRS and this is not how they work. I suspect a scam.
