This # called my elderly mother & LM claiming to be IRS & was filing a lawsuit against her. Said to return the call at the dept # 202-831-1038. I called the # many different times, getting many different Indian accented people with a lot of background noise & a human answering the phone each time. For as many times as I have called the IRS in the past 800-829-1040, a human NEVER answers the phone. It's always a pre recorded message with menus. I knew it was bull. But I did stay on the line with a Ryan Cruz? who's boss was Roy Smith? Asked me for info. Only giving the phone# that they called, they asked for my name, I told them they should have it if they WERE the IRS & they said my first name & did have the street address! Told me my mother owed $3600.26 due to errors on her taxes of 2009 thru 2013. My mother is a low income senior who has not had to file taxes in over 10 years. When I said that....they hung up. I am going to keep calling them as they keep calling other people.
