I just received this call as well. It’s a SCAM. Please do not fall for this. It was a recording. The IRS does not call or send out emails. They send letters only. They have nothing better to do then try to scam someone you out of money. Here is some advice for them. Get a real job like all the rest of us” most employers offer benefits” they are stupid idiots. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS BECAUSE YOU WILL NEVER SEE THIS MONEY AGAIN. THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP YOU ALL. It’s unfortunate that some people will believe this only to lose money to these scammers.

5/28/18. Another IRS SCAM!! The IRS doesn't initiate calls, doesn't threaten people with the 'local cops' and does use toll-free numbers if you want to contact them. The IRS website has info on phishing and a way to report it. The call I received was entirely fake and illegal and people should disregard if they get something similar even if it's a different number. Don't give them any money or personal info. Don't call them back at all. So, the call is message-only with no way to press a button to talk to someone or opt out. The message asks you to call them back at the same number they are calling from, 203-646-6097. The message is in a computer-generated typical American accent. I record all my calls so here it is verbatim. Notice the ridiculous grammar and speaking mistakes: "This matter is a very serious emergency and time-sensitive. We are calling you from investigation team of IRS. We have just received a notification regarding your tax filings from the headquarters which will get expired in next 24 working hours. And once it get expired after that you will be taken under custody by the local cops as there are four serious allegations pressed on your name at this moment. We would request you to get back to us so that we can discuss about this case before taking any legal action against you. The number to reach us is 203-646-6097. I repeat--". I disconnected the call out of frustration though I think there may have been more to it. This is fake, illegal, and immoral. I hope, like the other IRS scam where the US and India governments worked together, these people who stole millions by using terror get caught, extradited and thrown in prison.
