received call today. no voice mail. June 2 2011 at 1249
Got a random call from "Carol Casino" trying to spam me with a credit card offer, here is the translation of the message from Vonage Visual Voicemail:
Hey guys, Carol Casino here. Hey we spoke recently about trying to lower your interest rates and reducing your monthly payments on your credit card. So wanna get back to let you know they did find a solution to a nonprofit agency. We've got a program that can lower your interest rates to as low as one.5% and possibly cut those another payments in half and since you are only making the minimum payments this would be great opportunity for ya. This will be my last courtesy call so please give me a ring today. You can reach me at 1-888-261-4568. And don't forget you have your most recent statement on hand if you give me a call. The number again is 1-888-261-4568
States "uh hi, uh". then call drops.
I rcvd a vm from (207)493-2638 on my cell. A woman said her name is Carol Castillo from a non-profit org. & had spoken with me (LIE) to reduce my credit card interest rate to 1.5%. She left the tele # (888) 261-4568 for me to call. I suspected this was a phishing scam... so called to play with them... A woman answered said her name is Stacia. I immediately asked for name of company she reluctantly said it was "Consumer Debt Helpline", she began to try to fast-talk me.. but I interrupted by asking from where did they get my number. She tried to blow it off. Then I asked "Where are you located?" She immediately hung up.
I called agaiin, a woman said her name is Dana answered & asked she immediately remove my name from their call list (add to Do Not Call list).
I checked online for their website. It is linked to a company located in UK. But probably a total SCAM. BEWARE!!
Also reported this to FCC from link "Submit an FCC Complaint". Will report to BBB.
