Receive calls and when you answer they just click on and then hang up. I am wondering if they are trying to connect into the phone to make other scam calls under my number

We have received 2 phone calls from this number, leaving no messages. My husband (like a dummy) called it back. The caller picked up the call & immediately hung up.
I looked up the # and it is some one out of Ca! The area code of this # is not Ca.
Obviously this is a scam.
