Martin Smith just called me from this phone number. Right off the bat a scam because its an awfully American name for someone with such a heavy accent. Gave me case number and said he was a criminal investment office and tax return auditor. I told him to look up the phone number on the internet and advised him I was recording the call on my end. Advised the IRS doesn't call...he claims the IRS referred the case to him. Him specifically mind you. Don't fall for it, it's a scam. Please don't give them your information. I am turning this over to my local PD for further investigation as I did record the call and did advise he was being recorded. Already blocked the number.
My husband got a call threatening arrest and charges on a voicemail. When he called back he told the guy he was on his way to work and did not have pen and paper, guy threatened him and told him it was illegal to hang up. He told him off and hung up anyway.
Alex Williams... Scam artist... Not irs
Do not answer. They will tell you youre going to jail, they need money, right now, dont hang up. But dont listen and verify first
Beware! This person claimed to work for the IRS, gave a badge # and case # and new my name. They said I owed over 2,000 because of criminal tax fraud and gave specific years and said my accounts will be frozen etc. When I asked if this was a prank they said if I don't believe them I can hang up and the sheriff would be showing up within the hour. Very sad for people who might fall for this. I tried to report it to the IRS but when I called the phone scam reporting number on their website it said all circuits were busy. Go figure
