Received call from 215-525-0073. IT IS A SCAM. A recorded female voice identifying herself as a law enforcement agent suggested she represented the IRS; said a I would suffer "legal enforcement" if I didn't return the call. Notice the peculiar use of the word "enforcement." Hey scammers in India, Pakistan, or wherever! You haven't quite captured our vernacular. This number is registered in PA to GLOBAL CROSSING INC (which was the subject of an FCC legal fraud charge several years ago), but is apparently being used by a variety of Indian (or Pakistani) scammers. This is doubly sad. Some honest people won't realize it's a scam and will return the call. So many scams are telemarketers in India that it has damaged the integrity of an entire country. My immediate reaction to an Indian accent is skepticism instead of trust; I won't even waste my time talking to a customer service agent if they have an Indian accent because of the association with scam, fraud, and incompetence. Unfair maybe, but I can't help it. Why can't our government help stop these calls? Maybe it's time the Indian government got involved and started prosecuting these illegal activities.
