(240) 345-9576

The call from (240) 345-9576 came in from "Sandy Springs, MD" (Don't know anyone there, so I was automatically suspicious)
I got dead air (first clue that you're in some sort of queue) when I answered the call ....I said nothing, and immediately put them on mute. About 10 seconds into the call, a well-spoken woman comes on and says "May I speak with XXXXX XXXXX?" I did not answer, still suspecting some sort of unsolicited marketing pitch. About 10 seconds later, she sighs "oy yoy yoy" out of apparent frustration at not hearing anything from my end! :-). One would think she would at least identify herself in some way.....but no.
Anyway, she never said another thing but kept the line open for another 90 seconds or so. I guess she gave up then because the call died and the dial tone came in.
By the way, the DONOTCALL list is a joke and the legislation for it has absolutely no enforcement teeth. Don't believe that this will let up any time soon. Expect it for as long as these scammers go unpunished. Just take note of the various approaches these scammers take and file it away in your mind. You'll come to recognize the absurdity of these kinds of calls in the future. The best thing to do for your own sanity is accept that this is (unfortunately) the way of the world now, thanks to technology.......Stay calm, smile, and just marvel at the number of ways these thugs are trying to get to you! :-) And above all, give them absolutely NO information of any kind!
