They are a complete scam. Once I mentioned that I was recording the phone calls and forwarding them to the local PD and FBI they hang up. The next day a male called me I told him the same thing and told him the FBI, State Atty, General, and FTC know about them and mentioned to 'real' business name of Ezelle Williams & Associates he hung up. This was back in Dec. and I have heard no more. BTW, I have forwarded all phones calls recordings, returned certified letter they refused, and all other information I have to the local PD, FTC, state AG and FBI. Just waiting for an update now.

DNI/DNR Recovery - This is a scam. They leave messages for people threatening to garnish your wages if you do not call them back. They most likely have purchased your personal details (name, home/work #s, SSN, etc.) from online payday lenders you may have applied with or borrowed from. There are numerous posts on the internet from people who've all received similar calls from this fraudulent company, and there are even articles by consumer protection groups warning people not to fall for this company's scare tactics.
A Mrs Hardy, who claimed to calling from DNI or DNR Recovery called my cell and work number and left identical voicemail messages. She stated that she had received an order to have my wages garnished by 25%, and asked me to call her to work something out. She did not mention what the debt was for, how much it was for, who the original creditor was, etc. Before calling her, I decided to google the number, and have found numerous posts from others who have received similar calls from this company. There are also some articles from consumer protection groups warning of this company and their fraudulent scare tactics.
If you receive a call from a 'representative' of this agency, don't be intimidated, and know your rights and what is legal and what isn't. Your wages cannot be garnished without a court order. You cannot be arrested for not paying a debt. All debt collection agencies and attorneys who are in the business of debt collection are required by law to send you written notification of the debt they are trying to collect on within 5 days of making initial telephone contact with you. You have 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt and or request the collector to validate the debt. If you are contacted by an in-house collector who is directly employed with your original creditor, then they do not have to abide by the same rules as debt collection agencies and attorneys.
If you have taken out an online payday loan, most of the lenders include something in their online contract that has you agreeing to a voluntary wage assignment, which is the term they use for wage garnishment. This is not the same as a court-ordered wage garnishment because it is VOLUNTARY. Therefore, you can revoke the voluntary wage assignment at any time by notifying the lender in writing. You would also want to let the lender know that you are providing a copy of the voluntary wage assignment revocation to your employer's payroll dept. to keep on file.
