On July 31st, just after 8:30 am ADT, someone with a middle Eastern accent called me claiming to be from Microsoft and said that they had been getting error reports from my computer. I fell for this, just once (let him have remote access to my desktop computer, but he just wanted me to buy some software from Western Union, I didn't), and I've been getting the same kind of calls every now and then. I looked up the area code, and it is in Washington State, but like I said, I (nearly) fell for this once before, and just hung up on him. I did not notice the Caller ID until just now when I went through my Call Display.

Foreign person talking about "something is wrong with your computer" relating to a Microsoft error report. When I returned a call using CallerID, and asked the woman who answered for ID, the woman swore at me (quite colorfully). This number is listed via a Google search as a scam number for the purpose listed above.

Live caller informed us about viruses/security breaches/malware on our computers & urged us to have him fix it. We did not listen to the entire script & told him we would contact our manufacturer & ISP. And then we hung up the phone.

Fixing my computer.
A man with a thick middle eastern accent claiming to be a part of Microsoft Inc and stating I have a virus on my computer and it will crash in the next few minutes because my computer is not protected. Since I am protected, I let him know I have protection and he says this virus will not be blocked by my current antivirus. He then proceeded to tell me these steps I need to follow in order to get my computer protected. I knew it was a scam and I hung up. My wife was pestered by the same person the day prior.

Identified as Windows Errors Service, stating that our PC has errors. Tried to get the caller to state or say Microsoft, but no dice. Caller requests that we start our PC and he will tell us more.
