Hello! I got scammed! I gave them my info about my e-mail id, and everything like my address, and they made me pay 200$ too, so what can I do now? Please Help Me!
March 2nd I was called from a company who reported that my computer was sending error reports and that he was going to assist me in fixing my computer. The first individual was talking so fast and creating panic. I asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor stated his name was Ethan Hunt. That made me laugh as I am a huge Mission impossible fan. I took the phone number as reported above and did a search for the company 24X7 PC Help. I found reference to a 24X7 PC care.
I just received a call from this number, and while on the phone with the telemarketer, named Christopher David, whom I could barely understand, and had to have him spell everything he said, I got on the computer and typed in the number he was calling from, and voila! This is where it brought me.. He advised he was calling from 'Remote Support'. I asked him the name of the company. He repeated 'Remote Support'. I then asked him why 'Remote Support', 'You Tube', and 'Megabit Solutions', are all apparently using the same phone number to call people. They must be all too poor to obtain their own telemarketers and phone lines and must be forced to share, as it appears people are getting calls from all three on from this number??? He then got a little snooty with me and insisted that none of the above are associated and this phone number belongs to 'Remote Support'. He then went on about the problems with my 'Vista 07' computer (which I do not have), and asked me to log into my computer so that he could direct me on which files to access etc, and I asked to speak to his supervisor. Another gentleman then came on the phone, named Andrew. I asked for their OPERATOR ID #'s and neither could provide me with that and weren't sure what I was asking for....seriously...And I asked if they were registered with the better business bureau.. the response.. from a supervisor at that...''Uh Yeah, now ma'am if you'll go access those files....I interrupted him with ''Do you have an office in Canada that I can call?''... Him: ''No Ma'am, just the states, head office in Miami and we operate from the UK (Capital Scammers of the world!!). I told him that I'm in the process of getting rid of my computer and getting a new one, so he could waste his time elsewhere trying to con someone into donating their information so they can hack their computers, and not waste his time on mine. PFFFFFTTTT BEWARE OF THIS NUMBER!!!!
So a woman with an Indian accent calls and tells me she's from Remote Support Care IT for Windows XP/Vista/7 and says that my computer is corrupted and she's here to help fix it. She gives me a long CLS ID after I wouldn't do as she requested. The whole think smelled of scam so I asked her how she got my number. She spoke quickly and kept saying she was "helping" me. In the end I looked up the phone number and here I saw that others were almost scammed as well. DO NOT give any information over the phone!! It is a SCAM!! Protect yourself
Said they were from Megabyte solutions. My computer was infected and they would help me fix it after all the jazz about finding the infected files, They directed me to a web page where i had to enter my credit card info and name and address. I didn't of course. I kept them hanging on the line. The dude then got rude, told me i wasted his time and i had no brain becuase i didn't want to fix my computer. Also within a couple days my computer wouldn't work anymore. I told him he was full of s%@t. He then told me i was lucky he was talking to me on the phone and that it wasn't in a dark place because he had a bad taste in his mouth for me.
