I got the same call twice. Message left on voice mail. Threatened with jail and appearing before a federal magistrate if I didn't call back. Guess I'll be going to jail?????
Same message at 9:45 this morning. David Grey.
Same guy, same pitch and same message. I thought I'd call him back and string him along but, I have other things to do.
They had me going for a few minutes...until the first threat. I've dealt with the IRS in the past and these guys need to do their homework on how they IRS conducts business. As soon as I was threatened, I knew it was a scam and told them to F off.
The sad thing is, that they are probably making a TON of money from people who get scared by their threats of going to jail and immediately pay whatever they want.
I'm looking in to how to report them...even though I'm sure they change the phone number regularly and are probably hard to catch...who knows if anyone will actually even chase these guy to try to catch them.
This 309-326-1054 (most likely spoofed) called my cell just a few minutes ago and left a message in the voicemail "advising me to call them." Huh ... NO! Threats, threats, threats. This is definitely a scam. The "U.S. Treasury Dept" and/or the "IRS" do not call people on the phone. And "federal magistrate" ..... for real! Hope Karma gives "them" some justice for pestering people. They are the criminals!
