I received a restricted call notifying me that there will be an attempt to serve me documents. Then they provided me with 1-888-570-0862 number call for more information. I was given a case number and and when I called the person by the name of David Cooper very politely informed me that I had an old (2008) unsettled debt with First USA Bank for $9,776.07 and that if not settled today (12/10/2021) a lien was going to be put on my property. Then he went on and told me that I could settle for $5200 or counter offer. I told Mr. Cooper that I had never had an account with First USA Bank and while he was talking I was googling the bank name. He told me the bank was bought by Chase bank, which is a lie. After a few minutes of discussion, he started to get very rude and told me that if I don't settle the debt immediately we will see each other in court soon. He asked how much I could pay and told him that nothing today. He put me in hold for a few minutes because he was going to talk to the attorney to see the lowest amount they could take. Came back and told me that they were willing to take $3600 to settle a debt of $9,776.07. After a long discussion, we agreed that I was going to send him an over night money order to ASAPP, 360 Central Avenue Suite #800, St Petersburg, FL 33701. After we hanged up I started to do research and thanks God I found these reports listed above. Will see what happens when he calls me tomorrow...

I received a restricted call notifying me that there will be 2 attempts to serve me documents and to call a 1-888 number. I called that number and reached a DAVID COOPER who informed me I had an old debt from 2009 with CITIBANK, I told him that was a creditor I was unfamiliar with, and I didn't believe the debt was mine he said I owed over $7,000 and that I could go to court to see proof that it was my debt, in discovery... Then I would also owe court costs and legal fees. Or I could settle the debt today for $4,600. I told him I needed to look into this matter as I am certain I have never had a CITIBANK card. He told me I sounded like a nice lady and told me to call him back with payment at 310-356-0435 and ask for David Cooper, He gave me his information twice. I think this is a scam but it was scary because he knew my address and a previous address as well as the last four of my social and birthdate... He claimed to be from Millikan Law firm out of LA California.

We received a phone call from David Cooper about my mom having a subpoena. He said that it will be sent to our house last January, And that the police will be coming to issue it. There has been no letter with regards to this debt owed. He was a very rude man and threatening.

I received a phone call from a lady out of CA who said that they needed to send a subpoena for an unpaid debt. I explained that I had no idea what this debt was, when it was accrued, or anything. She called from 1-855-495-4888 and said she was with the Carlson law Office. She advised that she wouldn't send this just yet and that I needed to speak with the case manager, David Cooper at 310-356-0435. I called Mr. Cooper. He said that I had a 20+ year old credit card debt to Discover Financial. I explained to him that I had never had any dealings with Discover Financial. He told me that there was over a $7000 debt, but that I could settle with him for $2847.00. I told him that I needed to do some research on this because this was not my debt, and I never had any accounts with Discover Financial. He got very rude, told me that we would receive a subpoena if I didn't agree to settle, and then threatened me with a lien on my home. I told him that I didn't handle all of this financial stuff due to a combat injury while serving in the Army, but that I would have my wife call him back to get all the information that she needed to do a search on this. My wife called back about 2 hours later. He was just as rude to her, refused to give her any information about the account, when it was opened, when it went into collections - nothing. She decided to contact Discover Financial. She spoke with representatives in the credit department, the banking department, the mortgage department, and the personal loan department. No accounts pulled up using my social security number at all. My wife called back to the number that we had for this Carlson Law Office. She then spoke to a man by the name of Michael (he did not give his last name). He was the same ugly and threatening as Mr. Cooper, but he did give her a supposed Discover account number: 6011-0067-7552-1504. My wife called Discover back again. They could not locate this account number. They said that she would need to talk to the Discover Attorneys department that handled collections. The next morning my wife called the Discover Attorney's Department. They did another search on my social security number and this supposed account number. They came back and said that no account has ever existed (past or present) for my husband - under his social security number. And this account number that the representative from the Carlson Law Firm was not valid. Their conclusion was that my husband has never had an account with Discover Financial because even when an account is sent for collections and charged off, Discover keeps a record. My wife also keeps track of our credit reports. There have never been any collections on my credit report that indicate Discover. The people at Discover advised me to file a fraud report with the FTC since this department handles credit collections and their practices. I also learned that an unsecured credit card debt has a statute of limitations of 4 years in Texas. I also discovered that there is legal steps when making collections attempts; none of which were granted to me had there been a delinquent debt to be collected. I believe this is a scam to scare and threaten people into sending a "settlement" amount to these people who are not debt collectors but in fact hackers/thieves.
