Had the same thing happen. They claimed that they were not allowed by Microsoft to send me an email verifying who they were. Very slickly done. I can see where many people would fall for it.

Said it was Martin from Windows Tech support. All internet notes for searches on the number come up as SCAM. Microsoft website says that if they ever call you they can verify that you are a windows user, Martin was unable to verify my information and hung up on me. Total SCAM.

Scam - claims windows is sending error messages to Microsoft and your computer will crash. Get you to download software and then they can access your computer. They will ask for warranty money, if no, then they crash your computer.
