Portfolio Recovery uses over 200 Phone numbers to call from in order to disguise themselves. Their speciality is trying to collect on old ("Time-barred") debt, which has legally expired. Their threat is that they will continue to report you to the credit bureaus, but, in fact, on a Time-barred debt the reporting must stop a year after the debt is Time-barred. Time for class action.
