I receive calls like this two or three times a year for the past ten years. The number calling changes all the time. Today calls with similar IDs from Tucson and then Albany. A long time ago I learned that if Call Display shows a strange caller, or a number I don't recognise, I let the answering machine take over; if it is legitimate I would have a message, otherwise its a scam. But I do run a check on the Internet, just for the heck of it, to find out which scam they are running.
Yes, it is always someone with an Indian or Pakistani accent. If I accidentally do answer the phone, I usually waste their time (just returning the favour) and immediately ask them which version of Windows I'm running. Then I ask which computer is having the problem because I have several (which is true). His song and dance continues, and I let him believe he has hooked a victim. Then I inform him that I am running six Macs (which is true), nothing with Windows, and end telling him that Allah will punish him or strike him down for his deceit. He freaks out and I hang up. So a bit of a happy ending.
it is suppose to be from windows like this other case: Be aware, got a call from 1-315-636-3134 where a man speaking with a strong indian accent is trying to make me beleive they call from microsoft windows and that my "compyuter" is infected with a "wyrus". They want me to install a remote admin software (ammyy.com and support.me) to access my computer and show me what is wrong. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING FROM THESE WEBSITES ! Either they will install a virus/malware after gaining access or they will lock/encrypt my computer and ask for ransom. I am in Quebec Canada.

They call me - about my Windows - at 7h30 am.
Seem to be a fraudulent call
I answered and this man with a thick east Indian accent said he was calling about my computer and then said....I need money, what's your credit card number.....after saying a lot of choice words to him, I hung up
