Jason is a simplistic robot with voice recognition designed to connect you with a real person if you answer questions positively otherwise it will hang up. The calling number is a random number that may actually be owned by an innocent individual or a number not in service. Don't bother trying to call back - you won't find the real number that way. Using a number blocking app also won't help - they usually never use the same number twice. Your number is also just a random number their system will call in the hope that someone will answer. Do not call lists are ignored. I receive on average 10 calls per day from these systems. I now use a phone blocking app that only answers to callers in my contact list, otherwise an automatic disconnect. Not the best solution but until phone companies and Congress take real action we are doomed to be victims for some more time.
As others have mentioned, caller identified himself as calling from 'General Electric Home Security' and touted a great promotion for homeowners, and as I was halfway through saying 'no' (that I don't have a house) he hung up on me without so much as a have-a-nice-day.
Random and intrusive sales call from "General Electric Home Security" ... rejected the call but was called again later in the day.
"Jason" from General Electric home security..said 'doing a promotion', when i told him i wasn't interested he hung up--how rude, not to mention i'm on the 'do not call' list..i only answered it because it was a local number..won't do that again..
