No such fund exists.

A man called saying he was from the Police Protective Fund, he continued with can he put me down for a donation so he can mail me the window decal. Well last year they called us too, my husband took the call then and pledged a donation then told me about it. I investigated them and found that less than 1% actually went to the cause. So when the paperwork came in the mail, I wrote a letter on it stating that we would not donate, because it is inexcusable that they would use the name of the police to make money, less than 1% is just deplorable and please take me off all calling lists. So with this in mind, I am listening patiently to this man. I decided, being a christian, that I would be very nice, it wasn't his fault, he is just making the calls. So when he finished, I kindly and very sweetly explained that with all do respect to you sir, I researched your charity last year after you guys called, and was disappointed to find out that a very small amount of the money you receive actually goes to the cause it's intended for. I said that we found a charity for the police where over 60% goes to the cause, and that would be the one we donate to every year. I said I am sorry but we will not be donating to your charity. I could tell by his voice that he had become agitated as he said, "So your telling me that out of the 12 different police charities that call you every year, we are the one that you looked up?" so I said, "yes, I am sure and only 2 police charities call us..." then he very balligerently cut me off and said, "Well I can tell you that we have not even called you before! Because if we did, I would have record of it right here, so it was not us you looked up! I kindly said,"Yes it was sir..." He very rudely began ranting about they had not called us and it wasn't them... I spoke over him and said, "Yes it was and thank you for calling." and I hung up. If you want a donation why would you be extremely rude? My mind won't be changed by a harassing attitude.

These people are scam artists ... less than 2% of the money they collect actual goes anywhere other than their pocket.

Don't even pick up the phone.

A man called, and after a very brief, VERY strange start to the call (acted like he's known me for years), he said he was from the Police Protection Fund. He asked how I was on this fine day, and I said that I was in the middle of baking. He promptly hung up on me without any warning, whatsoever!

A man called requesting I donate monies for the Police Protective Fund that helps those families that loose a family member due to a shooting. I said that we do that locally in South Bend. He continued to say ok then you can help. I said NO we do it locally , so we know where the money goes. Again he requested I donate for a red,white, and blue sticker. I said I understand we are in fact a family who had a husband shot, so I understand. Again he asked me to donate. All the while I am speaking and getting upset , he is raising his voice to speak over me. I finally hung up. Upon a callback to the Indianapolis number, you are prompted to leave a message.
