"Richard Harris" spoke very poor English. Claimed to be from Dept of Treasury. Said there were three legal actions under my name for not filing 2009 taxes correctly and that I owed $4750. There was an arrest warrant out for me and I would spend 6 months in jail. He said they were on their way to my house and gave my address. I said ok I will contact the IRS and hung up. I called the police who said they hope to get people to panic and then get them to pay money.
Same thing to me.
will arrest tomorrow-somethin about IRS. His name is Mark Johnson
Left a message on my parent's line for me using my maiden name and said I should return their call or have my attorney return their call. Called my accountant who said the IRS has my current information and would send me a letter if there ever was an issue. Caller identified himself as William Rogers, which, if you google, comes up with various IRS-related items, but none with him as an agent.
First of all it was a person who called spoke broken english (Red Flag #1), said they were from the Dept of Treasury Legal Dept. Wanted me to verify personal information (Red Flag #2) Said I didn't pay taxes in 2009 and I would get an IRS agent visit and would be arresting on the spot (Red Flag #3), When I pick at them for more detail and who my accountant should call they hung up (Red Flag #4)
