I was transferred by the NC office of the Department of Revenue, to a person who said she was "Tiffany". She did not give me her last name or agent number, but requested that I fax 3 month's worth of bank statements to this fax# - 336-315-7010. I got a call from her the next morning, and when I tried to call her back on the number on Caller ID, - which was 336-487-0299, I got a recording stating that this was not a working number in North Carolina. I tried three times...same thing. This is a scam that has managed to enmesh itself into the real numbers for the NC Department of Revenue. Also - a real agent in that office transferred me to "Tiffany" - so someone inside the NC Dpt of Revenue is assisting with this. Beware! Anyone who calls you - ask them for a number to call back on right away, and hang up.
