Called to say my husband was being arrested in 30 minutes for tax evasion, taken to jail where they could hold him for 48 horus. We have all our years filed and working with tax atty. Still as a 68 year old black man who has never had more than a speeding ticket, the threat was petrifying. I'm confused what they get out of this kind of call. They didn't ask for money or anything. Just said they were with IRS Investigation Unit and we hadn't filed our IRS Form B7 for change of address - so they had sent 7 notices to our old address. 1. IRS Form B7 is a bankruptcy form - I looked it up. 2. We get correspondence from IRS at our current address all the time. 3. IRS does not "arrest" people. 4. They don't know where he works. 5. What the heck is the point? What do these scammers get out of this?
