A key give-away here is the country code 011, it is for american Samoa, Antiguilla, Barbados and Antigua.
We had a message on our land line answering machine. The voice was automated, it said that the IRS had been trying to contact us (did not give a name) and that the message should be considered a final notice. The recording proceeded to inform us that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against us. When I called the number I only got a busy signal.
Yeah, Auto voice called claiming to be the IRS threaten a lawsuit. The IRS don't have to beg anyone to call them back. They know how to get your attention. Don't pay any attention to these crooks. These clowns don't have the slightest idea who they are trying to impersonate.
I received the call listed above. My experience was the same as listed above. However, I wanted to make sure, so I asked the lady her IRS id number. She gave me a number. I told her I wanted the information in writing. She told me she couldn't do that. Yup it is a scam.
I got the same call, she left a message saying this was the last attempt to reach me, I was being sued by the IRS. I was sure it was a scam but I called it from a different phone line. A spanish lady answered "IRS," there was a lot or raucous in the background - Really! I said I had the wrong number and I hung up.
