The person with a heavy accent said he was calling from HP about errors on my computer. He had my name and I do have a HP computer. Yet, I was still cautious. He asked various questions including do I do financial transactions on my computer. He wanted me to go to my computer and he would walk me through the fix. I indicated that I couldn't as I was busy and hung up.
Called to tell me there were about 300 attempts to hack into my computer yesterday evening. I asked if I could call him back and he kept saying what time can I call you back. Accent - Eastern Indian?
Got the call, told I had a bad file, go to my computer. When I asked who he worked for was told windows. Would be nice if the government would do something about these people.
Unfortunately, I fell for this last year. They tell you to go to a website, click here and click there. One of the clicks puts a ransome virus on. He says to get it off, WIRE $300 to and address he gives you, but DO NOT tell the Western Union people why you're doing this. Well, I got as far as the Western Union and told the lady there about this. She said not to do this, just take your computer to Best Buy. I did and they removed the virus for a hundred or so. I bought their one-year support and everything is fine except they call me about twice a month. I just bloc their number, but you know, they own hundreds of numbers. Note: Microsoft will never call you . . . .
Claimed to be an employee of Microsoft Co. Computer has viruses and I was harassing him by telling him that the call was a scam. Asian voice, difficult to understand
