These sleazebags started calling my cell phone after I had my landline disconnected because the scammers were using it more than anyone else. They say they will be “in my area setting up FREE alarm systems†(what a crock!) Just when everyone and their brother gets wise to the Nigerian bank letter scam, they come up with new ways to hump on our leg that are just as insulting.
I got this call, picked up and it was silent on the other end for about 15 seconds and then just hung up. I checked my phone history and saw I recieved a call from this number about a month ago and it was again only a 15 second call. I can only assume the same thing happened.
I read posts about this number on other websites too, apparently its getting around...anyways, one post says that it is a scam to confirm your number as a real number. Pick up, call back...doesn't matter. If its a real number it'll go to voicemail and it's confirmed to be active.
What they do with that data, I don't know, maybe sell it to other telemarketers. Anyways, it's cool to know I can just google a number and find info on it like this. Awesome collaboration.

This is a real scam, as in trying to charge your credit card for things you never get. They employ EngageTel of Wyoming to manage their "do not call list", 307-223-0458. A lookup of that number gives you "TeleCall", but that is an illegal DBA name being used by EngageTel to confuse them with the defunct Intelecall Communications, Inc., DBA TeleCall Services. EngageTel supply "compliance services" to the phone spamming industry. The call that comes to your cell phone is placed by a 3rd company, PaeTec, which is hired to do the dirty deed for the scammers. Defender Security's web servers and their own telco systems are managed by SolveForce of Yorba Linda, California. SolveForce is not authorized to transact business by the California Secretary of State; contact person is Ron Legarski.
So, this is pretty typical. Layers of fraud. You can pick who to push back on. If you don't harass them back at least as much as they have you, you are asking for it. Defender Security is the No. 2 fastest-growing private company in the Indianapolis area. David Lindsey was the Ernst & Young Entrepeneur of the Year in 2009. Check out
