We have posted this on our website, but there is a fraudulent group that has taken our name and number. We are trying to change the number and caller ID.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I received a call on October 25 from a person claiming to be from MSR inquiring as to whether anyone from my household held an account at a certain bank in Portland, Oregon where I reside. I responded that my son who had living with me for a period of time had since moved. I also stated that I did not know at which banking facility he currently had his checking account. The person, who was quite unprofessional, asked once again if anyone in my household maintained an account at a specific bank. My answer was a truthful "no". I did not offer any additional information, not even my son's name, his address, phone number or his birthdate.

Cordially,

Hello Marylou Noble,
We don't have the names of the people that go to the bank, as these are blind surveys.
I've been thinking about this, and I think the best way to explain what we do is by imagining that you were just filling in a blind survey that got mailed to you, but instead of writing down your answers, you just tell us yes or no.
Also, we do not send out mailers or internet surveys (that would be the end of our jobs!)
Sorry about the unprofessional caller! Unfortunately, the MSR Group takes in just about anyone that comes in looking for a job. But rest assured, if they are rude it'll only be a short time until they're gone, as we're recorded and graded our our calls (which also reflects our pay!)
That is the reason why we cannot stray too far from our prompting screen. If we say something that's not on the screen, we'll be downgraded for it and possibly get a lower pay the following quarter.
So as you can see, being professional and courteous callers is in our best interest (as well as yours, of course!).

Talked about home safety in our area. Talked about putting a sign in our yard. Said I could press a number to be taken off their list. I finally hung up. Received a call from same number 19 minutes later but I did not answer. They did not leave a message.

they call repeatedly (even thirty minutes apart), months after they claim you're put on a permanent no-call list. these are the absolute worst offenders.

If you have comcast voice, you can dial *60 then enter # 0 1 # to add the last incoming number to your blocked call list. No more noise from that particular source. From time to time there is a new source, so repeat as needed.
That is a really really nice feature which should also be available on mobile phones.

we have submitted our number to the MSR do not call list and are supposed to be removed within 48 hrs. We shall see if this determined representative who has been so dogged and determined to make his point......we shall see if the calls stop. If not, we will be right back here making another report and filing another to the FCC.
Let's hope this will be the end of the nonsense.

No, I don't have children, I'm 19 and want to get an education and a job first. I suggest, not just for our group calling, but for anyone calling past whatever bedtime you have for your kid, that you move your phone to where it won't be so loud. I'm certain we're not the only ones waking up your kid. Also, 8:15 is nowhere near violating any calling rules.

You can say how wonderful your company is and what a service you are doing for people, and you really expect people who are on this website to believe you when they are here because they have been getting annoying calls? Get a clue....we dont want to be bothered with such calls! Most people are working and trying to make a living, and DONT HAVE TIME FOR YOUR CALLS AND WE DONT WANT TO BE BOTHERED! GET IT? Your company may be providing jobs for struggling 18 y/o's but keep in mind, most of the general public out there DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THAT! WE JUST WANT OUR PEACE AND QUIET AND PRIVACY. When we get a new President in the White House this next time around, we, the general public is hopeful that we can get some laws changed concerning Telemarketing, and put an end to your nonsense once and for all!

I am replying just afer the Jun 27 responder who does not want to be bothered. From where I stand, I see that this person who works for the telemarketing co. is determined to push their service off on the general public. I also see your arrogant and flippant attitude coming across as if the general public has no rights and we have to put up with your annoying calls. Maybe you sit by a desk in a cushy office or work out of the comfort of your own home, but a lot of the workforce out there does not work in that kind of easy environment, and they WORK HARD, and when the weekend comes, THEY JUST WANT TO BE LEFT ALONE1 GET IT? Your condescending and sarcastic attitude is getting you nowhere in convincing the public that you are doing them a service. What part of NO do you not understand? YOu can argue back and forth all you like, but the bottom line is....people like you are bottom feeders who take delight in being a pain in the ASS. Most people dont want to talk to you, and if they did, THEY WOULD CALL YOU?
GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS. WE DONT WANT YOUR CALLS, AND IF YOU MAKE US MAD ENOUGH, WE CAN AND WILL TAKE ACTION all the way to Washington.
And YES, never say never....it can be done. Dont push it.

As much as I appreciate your Justin Beiber quote/ overused cliche "never say never," I'm afraid you're missing my point and calling me out as "condescending and sarcastic." While I have sunk into that kind of attitude its only because I'm trying to explain in a way you all understand how to get off of our list and help yourselves. I don't know how many times I've posted how to stop this, but it seems you all just want to complain and not do anything.

Wait, retract that, you all want to take this way to far by "going to Washington" and somehow changing the DNC laws. So what you're telling me is that you'd rather hassle the government about your day that was "ruined" because someone called you than just follow the simple instructions I gave multiple times.

You don't want to solve the problem, you just want to vent your frustrations, which is perfectly fine, but don't put words in my mouth when you're just letting off steam.

Its nice that you "work hard," but we all work hard in our own way. We go out and try to do our best with what we've got. Sure, I sit on an office chair (as shitty as they are) in a cubicle as big as my shoulders, saying the same script over and over for six hours in the same cheery voice even when people scream in my ear. It is a cushy job, but its getting me to where I'm going, as it is many other people.

I never said anything about convincing the public that we're doing them a service. We're actually doing businesses a service. And you're right, I couldn't care less about your opinions, but why should I care so much about your feelings when you don't feel anything for me? I don't expect some random person hundreds of miles away I talk to for a few minutes to care about me, so I have no idea why you feel we should. That's not beneficial for either of us.

Bottom line is, nothing's going to change. You can go to Washington, but the people who work for marketing agencies as well as the people working for the companies that hire us outweigh the few people annoyed by a few calls.

Although you'll probably have some idiotic rebuttal about how "of course you don't care, you're a bottom feeder," you're just splitting hairs and wasting your own time.

I told you how to get off the list.
Just do it.

I work with the MSR Group so I'll try to clear up all questions, whether you believe me or not.

We are based in Omaha, Nebraska and no where else, so if you're getting call from Arkansas or anywhere else besides a 402 number (area code of Omaha), then it IS probably a scam if they say they are the MSR group unless there's another group with the same name.

We do NOT ask for credit card numbers, don't give them to anyone over the phone in general.

The MSR group is expanding heavily and are hiring new people that are still getting used to the job and may not have the best skills yet. Also, many young people work here and it's the first job, as it is mine. Sometimes the machinery for the call service we use doesn't work and it annoys us as much as it annoys you when it messes up. Sorry for that inconvenience.

If you want to take your number off the list you can tell the person and there is a list of bubbles we fill in. Once says "Not Interested" and we click that and go on to the next caller. That just means we will not call you for that particular survey again, and if it is a bank survey then your bank may possibly reissue your number again. Sorry, we can't do anything about that, ask your bank.

You can also get off of our list by going to the MSR site and going to the tab where it says "remove from call list". You can google it.
I'll let you in on a little secret, on 99% of the questions on our surveys we have a "refused" option next to "excellent, good, just okay, poor, or terrible". If you truly feel uncomfortable answering then just say that or something along those lines and we'll move right along, in fact its much better that you struggling to decide what to answer because we're working on our numbers which reflect our paycheck. But I'll tell you that all bank surveys are very impersonal and we don't pay for them because they're for YOUR benefit. This is the chance for you to complain and you get no gruff about it because we can only say a certain range of words. They record our messages not only to make sure they hear your messages, but to make sure we keep in line. We're just the middle man, or messengers if you will. It is a very strict environment where if we get four strikes we're "out" (three we get reprimanded), so I apologize if we give you a very impersonal-sounding reply, we have no choice. As it should be because they didn't become a national public opinion firm by having unprofessional conversations.

Many of us really don't "like" bothering you people, we're just doing our jobs. You may say, "get a real job", but is a real job. It may be bottom rung, but you aren't gonna get far in the drive through at mcdonald's or get through cashiering quickly without "bottom rung people". In our society every "rung" is needed, as meager as it seems. We are working here to make sure accurate results are recorded. Most of us just want a pay check and could care less about your opinions, as pessimistic as that sounds. I should think you should be somewhat happy to know that businesses want your opinions instead of just going on and not caring about what you think.

I have strayed a little bit, and I apologize, but I hope I answered everyone's questions. I, personally, cannot do anything so please don't ask me to stop calling.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Of course this person could care less.....they have no work ethic or scupples....else they would get to work bettering their education to find a real RESPECTFUL job that does not annoy harrass or enrage people. I get these calls all the time, so I know how it feels to be annoyed at the worst possible time. If it were YOU, you would not like getting these calls either! Get a real life and stop working for just a mere paycheck! What a sad life you lead.

Actually, because my parents are wealthy enough to not be eligible for a grant, but not rich enough to actually pay for my college, I work 20 hours during the school year to pay for college, which I take a full 15-17 credit course load. And yes, its an accredited school. During the summer I work 30 hours a week. The job pays decently depending on how you do and it is the best job I can get while having to take the bus every day because I can't afford a car.

As for my comment of not caring, I may have been a little harsh. A better way to put it is that I'm and unbiased conductor.

I honestly don't see how this is not a respectful job. I clock and clock out just like the rest of you. I don't kill people, swindle people, or lie to people in any fashion. We work hard and follow the rules that are given to us, just like any other job.

I apologize if you can't understand or are still angry, but I clearly told you how to get off of our calling list, and I'll repeat:

Go to the msr website and there are tabs there you can follow. Type in your number where it tells you to. Or simply call the organization from which the call was for.

So don't pick up, say you don't want to do the survey, or follow my instructions I just reposted.

Just got another call from them last night on a Sunday evening, when we just want to be left alone. We are not interested in giving our opinion other that we think annoying companies like you should be banned from calling people who just want to rest and enjoy their weekend! I asked to be removed from their calling list again......lets see if they honor my request this time......somehow I doubt it. We just wont be answering these calls from this area code ever again. Thank God for caller ID. oh, and if the display says Blocked, well we certainly wont be answering that call either! Get a life and a REAL job!

Just because it bothers you doesn't mean it bothers everyone. We're actually trying to help business be better for their customers. I actually get quite a bit of surveys from very nice people, believe it or not. I've been working here for a year and as much as I hate the job, it's a really good first job for someone, as it is mine. Its also putting me through college so I have no complaints.

I've clearly state how to get off of our list and why you are still being called if you did request to get off of the list. If you can't understand then you are the minority and that's on your own head.

You can continue to complain all you want, but nothing's going to happen. This company has been around for nearly 50 years and as long as people still want good business (which I'm pretty sure you do) we'll be around for another 50.

By the way, this is a real job. I get paid for the services I provide to my company. If you all started off as salaried-workers earning what you do now when you were 18, please sign me up. I will gladly quit my job and go there.

Best of luck!

I didn't mean to come off as a charity case, just stating the facts. And this job does cater to all ranges of ages.

From your political comment, I'm reading you as the person who likes to "add fuel to the fire," which as fun as it is to use our anonymity on the internet to blow off steam, there's not enough people coming to this site to really have a great debate (showing how many people actually bother to complain about our company, really if you want to have your "peace and privacy" just ignore the calls. I'm sure you can handle thirty seconds of phone ringing, unless your temperament is that short-fused. In which case, I feel sorry for you dude.)

Actually regarding your comment, I'm sure whatever president is elected has better things to do than cater to a few peeved people because one company "ruined" their precious weekend by calling them. Actually, I hope they touch some of the bigger issues first.

You've turned this into something you feel you need to become the "vigilante" for, which is ridiculous. I've told you how to get off of our list and how to stop our calls. I've mentioned it on numerous occasions on numerous sites. You're not rooting for the "general public," you just want to be left alone, which I understand. ( And who exactly are these "general public" people? I didn't know people who didn't like getting phone calls counted as a group. I suppose the next new thing would be "People against the color purple.")

I've said my piece for this round anonymous, and I'm having quite a hoot with this, especially since you seem to only be reading half of my comments, as lengthy as they are. Maybe I should just put them in a twitter format for you.

What's your next dazzling move that will totally convince me and the "general public" to help carry out these amazing laws you are expecting?
