There is a FAST organization but it is not a state agency or affiliated with the State of Florida in any way. It's just a private club comprised of State Troopers (active and retired) for State Troopers. It sounds official but it's not. It's managed by a volunteer board of directors made up entirely by it's members elected by their peers. It has nothing to do with law enforcement nor do they support or run any charity like the Elks, Moose, Shriners, and Rotary do. Even the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch is supported by the county sheriff's departments state wide. They have one of the best retirement plans in the United States, the FRS (Florida Retirement System) so they just spend the money amongst themselves.
