Of course it's a scam. Duuuuh! Lately I press 1 on all these type of calls. The robot says I will be connected to the next available agent. Then, after a couple of seconds, the call ends. I guess I am now on their "other" computerized list of schmucks who want to waste THEIR time.
May be an insurance telemarketer, and smells like a scam to me. For a change, the live agent was quite pleasant, and told me the company was "United Life Insurance" and they are targeting people aged 55-85 in "my area." When I asked what area that was, she knew what state they had called, appeared to be looking something up, then said, "I apologize -- we cannot sell insurance in {your state}. Please disregard this call," and hung up.
