I received a call from 412-268-4386 on my cell phone this evening (dinner time) on 4/8/19 - I didn't pick up, and no voicemail message was left. I don't pick up any calls anymore from numbers that I don't recognize, since I get at least two unsolicited robocalls for every "real" call. If it's someone that really needs/wants to get to me, they'll leave a message. A quick web search shows this to be a Carnegie Mellon University number. I'm an alumnus, so it's a fundraising robocall. Being a non-profit, they don't have to abide by the Do-Not-Call list, so it's technically not an illegal call -- but a nuisance nonetheless. I'm not going to interrupt my dinner to speak to some unfortunate student tasked with calling alumni to cheerily "update" me on "the great things happening at CMU", as a lede to their request for donations (which I'm not in a position currently to oblige due to health issues and long term unemployment).
