They called & left a message representing the IRS but when I called back they hung up on me. I called back again & this time they asked for my name & address. I made up a name & an address that doesn't exist. Instead of calling me out on the fake info he said I owed $3400 in back taxes for the years 2011-2016, & with court costs & other costs that figure was now $4900. He said I could resolve right now with him, or the police would be there within the hour to arrest me. I told him I was willing to take my chances in court. He lowered the price down to $4500 to resolve now & I still said no. He lowered it again to $4000. I said no again, I would take my chances & he hung up. I would be willing to bet that the real IRS isn't in the bartering game & agree with everyone else here that the message is a scam.
Will call your leaving a message representing the IRS but when called back and questioned, they hang up or try to get you to give personal information.
