I got a similar call. First of all, an Indian man called. He had an Indian accent. This was my first indication that something might be wrong. Why? Because the IRS does not use off-shore calling centers. IN fact, the Government is REQUIRED to use only US citizens for the work that it does. He claimed I owed a specific amount of money to the IRS. He read me an affadavit; portions of which did not sound gramatically correct. He then told me that I was going to be immediately arrested, and police would come to my door. This is when I knew something was wrong. I asked for his IRS Employee ID number and he would not provide it to me. So I hung up. I then got a call from the local police department, with a man trying to imitate a woman. He/She asked me what was my physical address. I told them that I would not give it to them. I then hung up.
asian men claiming to be from irs. tried to get me to resolve $3900 owed for 2012&2013 taxes. said i was audited and committed tax fraud and would be arrested.told me i could resolve matter confidentially and not to tell anyone what was going on. said an irs agent would be coming to my house yet didnt even ask for address.
I did not recognize the number and I let it go to voicemail. The voice was automated and said that they were calling from the offices of Nickie Johnson and that I should not disregard the call or they would have to bring actions against me. They asked me to call this number back. This is definitely a scam because I am disabled and have not had a job since 2009, therefore, I have no taxes to report. If you receive this call, it needs to be reported.
They called said we were being suit being suite by Irs.
