The call begins with a prerecorded message telling me about the crime rate and that some USG agency (didn't catch which one) recommends taking appropriate measures and how this company will come to my home and install a sign in my yard to show intruders that I'm property protected.

Home security services. Initial automated messae stated, "The FBI reports that a home is broken into every 15 seconds. Let us put a small sign in your front yard and we'll provide a home security service for a very low monthly fee. Press 1 for more information." When I pressed 1, a woman answered; when I asked for the name/location of the company, she promptly hung up.
