Calling to "about your credit care, nothing wrong with your credit card..." Have gotten these calls on land line for years, even with no-call registry in effect. 1st time on my cell phone. But they're not affiliated with any card I have. Got to real person, told them to take me off list, and they hung up on me.

First a recording from Account Services, implying they are one of your credit card companies. Then you press one for a live person from India. I asked what company she was with and she rattled off all the majors - Chase, Bank of America, etc., then tried to get me to verify I had one of these. I gave her a hard time until she hung up on me. You could hear she was in a boiler room. Trying to sell debt consolidation or some other scam.

CTR 277: The consumer is receiving calls from Consumer Credit Card Services offering to assist him with his credit. When the consumer Googled his name on the credit bureau site, Equifax, his son's name came up and his Equifax credit report is messed up. He thinks the credit bureau has released information on him. He had creditors after him for something that was 14 years old. They listed his address as Tampa, FL when his son was attending school in FL. He has reported this to his congressman and the FTC.

Voice wanted to inform me of the opportunity to lower my credit card interest rates. Person who answered when I pressed #1 to connect hung up when I informed them to not call me and asked how they got my number.
