I have been called daily for a while then nothing now today its started again. I told the caller I was not the person who owed anything the ssn was not mine. Yet they continue to call me.. Of course they did not give me a name, and it would probably not be their true name ,I woredk for account temps and we used fake names.
Haven't gotten a call before today from this number but this evening (about 7 pm local AZ time) the caller ID said "SUNROCKET DID" and they did not leave a message.
I just for s**ts grins and giggles called the number back on my cell phone and I got an automated answering service for Portfolio Recovery Services, which is a debt buying company that purchases old, expired beyond statute-of-limitations "debt paper" for pennies on the dollar and then tries to collect however they can by subterfuge, intimidation, scare tactics, threat of bogus legal action etc. Any money at all these people make is pure profit for them as the original creditors have written the debt off and have probably taken tax credits for it. IMO people like this should not be in business. There ought to be a law or laws shutting this "industry" down. This is one reason I have an answering machine with caller ID screen my calls. Plus caller ID can be spoofed so I usually Google a number like this and also sometimes (not always) call them from my cell phone # which I give out to NOBODY except family and close friends and even then not all of even them.
As usual when these people call, they leave no message. Note that "Portfolio Recovery" calls from many different area codes and phone numbers so it's difficult to block all of them.
