I read about these callers online. They bug you like there's no tomorrow. They're just trying to collect from an old debt from many years ago. Apparently, people have sued this company and won. Need more info? Google it and you'll have options.

Trying to collect invalid debts. Won't stop even when proven to be in error.

This is Portfolio collection agency. They use one of a hundred various numbers and typically call repeatedly and then hang up on you.

They keep calling me saying I have an unpaid debt with Capitol One that I settled with them over 7 years ago. When I tell them that I already took care of that credit card, they (often rudely) insist that I send them the paperwork on it to prove I did. Who keeps information on a credit card they paid off and got rid of more than 7 years ago?!

JUNK DEBT BUYERS

Portfolio Recovery purchases old debt that is no longer able to be recovered under the law (each state has a statue on the amount of time someone can sue you—most states it's 5-7 years—check your laws). PRS will purchase your old debt for pennies on the $. The original lender has already written this off as a tax loss and no longer owns this debt or has any interest in it.

DO NOT PAY PRS OR LET THEM INTIMIDATE YOU. DO NOT ADMIT WHETHER THE DEBT IS YOURS--SAY YOU DON'T REMEMBER IT. Send them a cease and desist contact letter stating they may not contact you any longer. Send it certified return receipt. If they continue you can sue THEM for violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices act and get awarded damages ($$). Also, you can easily force them to remove any dings to your credit report if they are reporting on your CR just by writing a letter.

For more info visit the discussion board at CREDITBOARDS {dot} COM. This helped me immensely.

They have like 125 numbers!!! AND THIS ONE IS NOT ON MY LIST!!! If they are calling your CELL, and you are NOT the person they are looking for, or it's for YOU but the debt is EXPIRED (ck your state-CREDIT CARDS 3 to 10 Yrs & WRITTEN CONTRACTS -3 to 15 Yrs )or you never gave your CELL to the original DEBT CO, Check NACA ONLINE for an attorney to SUE!!!! because; "Congress passed the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (“TCPA”), 47 U.S.C. §227, to curtail the use of automated dialers and prerecorded messages to cell phones without the permission of the consumer." ...$500.00 per telephone call and $1,500.00 per telephone call if willful. !!!!
There are free phone search companies ONLINE (I found 4) that can be accessed by anyone...that show clearly in the FREE AREA that my phone number is from a CELL...And if they PAY A SMALL MONTHLY FEE can see who the CELL Number belongs to...I'D CALL IT WILLFUL!!!! I'm giving that info to my Attorney!
Other complaints can be filed; BBB, FTC, FCC, Do Not Call List, Consumer Complaints, Attorney General of State the company is located in...

These people are a colection agency looking for someone I've never heard of - I tell them this and a few days later there they are again. They call from different phone numbers located all over the country, I haven't had them call from the "(443) 313-1381" number yet but I'm sure that's also them. Do NOT waste your time talking to them or calling back.

The telephone companies should be able to let us block more than just 10 phone numbers.

I agree, the telephone companies should let us block more than ten phone numbers, but they would rather have us angry instead of upsetting their business clients; we the people aren't as important to them as businesses are....too bad.
