They said they were calling from the Poplar Science Magazine and asked for her husband. When she told them he was dead now for almost 4 years, they said sorry, have a good evening and hung up.

The callers claim to be representing Discover Magazine and want me to renew my subscription. Discover tells me they don't have outside contractors making phone solicitations. These people have also behaved suspiciously, refusing to give me information about their company, refusing to give contact information, sometimes hanging up when I asked for such, refusing to stop calling, calling me back if I hung up, once or twice swearing at me (although I admit I usually started that). Often the number that shows on the caller ID either leads nowhere or rings without answer.
