Calls took place on July 30, 2021.
Calls were from Informed Electorate. However, they called me first using 2 spoofed Maine phone numbers in Acton, ME. These numbers were (207) 477-9981 and then (207) 477-9983. Called 4 times in 10 minutes the last being at 11:30 AM.
Call Number 5 came in exactly 1 minute later at 11:31 AM and showed both Acton, ME numbers were spoofed. The new Caller ID Info showed the
Caller ID now displayed the Call as originating from a US domestic out of state phone number originating from Dallas, TX at (469) 701-0053 and ID'd the Caller as
"Informed Electorate".
An Indian call center rep asked me for my name which I didn't provide. She then started trying to get me to provide her with a credit card number for a $250.00 donation to what sounded like a political PAC or something. I declined and terminated the call.
Interestingly, the Caller ID logged the incoming call time as 09:31 AM, not 11:31 AM as it normally does, even from out of state calls from different time zones. This made me immediately suspicious of the call and its true intentions.
As a Senior IT and Telecom Executive in the Global Banking Industry with a couple of phone calls we were able to trace the true origin of this call back to a VOIP-enabled Call Center for Hire located in Pune, India.
These folks are an extreme Fraud Risk. We immediately filed an official complaint with the
Federal Trade Commission for investigative follow-up by their anti-fraud unit.
Fake political, scammer. Also uses 469-607-4695.
The best way to get Congress to do something about this would be to call your current member of Congress at both there their local and Washington offices. Tell them you are being harassed by phone scams and that you need their help. After they tell you that this is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), tell them thank you and hang up. Every time you get a scam call, you again call Congress and tell them the same thing. When they tell you that they already told you that this is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), you tell them that the call got you so upset that you forgot what they had said before. Call them every time you get one of these calls. After they get hundreds or even thousands of callers each calling them several times, maybe they will do something about it. Information for members of Congress can be found on the left hand side about halfway down the page at https://www.congress.gov//
Got me to answer "yes" then phone immediately went dead.
Prerecorded spoofed political call then the recording assumes you answers their question and asks another then he coughs and sneezes and I hung up...
