I was woken up by my mother because the caller ID said SSI, the person said to her they were from SSI, and I have an outstanding SSI case. However, the person at the other end was someone doing a political survey. In the interest of keeping myself awake, I decided to just play along. The person at the other end was incapable of critical thinking and after making me repeat myself three times I just hung up. I warned her about it, too.
Regardless of how you handle the situation as it is presented, this is a felony. I called the FBI who then redirected me to the Federal Trade Commission. There is power in numbers, folks. If enough people complain, these clowns *will* be shut down. We *can* make that happen.
